Fireworks, music and family fun to commemorate freedom at Fourth of July event

GARLAND, TX – June 19, 2014 — Firewheel Town Center, in partnership with the City of Garland, will proudly celebrate our nation’s independence with an afternoon full of free family fun at Star-Spangled Spectacular presented by Dobson Floors from 4 p.m. – 10 p.m. on the Fourth of July.   What better way to pay tribute to our armed forces than at Star Spangled Spectacular!

“We are excited to partner with Firewheel Town Center again this year for the Star Spangled Spectacular event,” said Mayor Douglas Athas. “As we approach the Fourth of July holiday, I am excited to celebrate the independence of our great country with the families of Garland.”

Let’s hear it for the red, white and blue!  Festivalgoers can move to the beat at this year’s Main Stage featuring regional favorite, High Definition Band, who will perform hits from the 80s, 90s, 2000s and today. The stage will be located at Town Center Boulevard and Prairie Clover Drive, near Houlihan’s & World Market.

Firewheel Town Center will also present a day of free entertainment in the Star Spangled Spectacular Family Activities area, located in The Park and on Coneflower Drive. Guests who visit the Star Spangled Spectacular Family Activities area will enjoy bounce houses, strolling entertainment and great family fun. Additionally, Radio Disney will return to The Park area, featuring games, prizes, balloon artists, face painters, and giveaways.

Star Spangled Snacks will be available for guests to enjoy throughout the event, including selections from BurgerFi, TGI Friday’s, World Market, Uptown Popcorn as well as an array of festival foods located along Coneflower Drive and The Park area.

Looking for something to sparkle your evening? At 9:15 p.m. spectacular, show-stopping fireworks, choreographed to an exciting arrangement of patriotic songs, will light up the sky and everyone’s eyes. Attendees should prepare for a wonderful show with an enhanced finale!

Additionally, Firewheel Town Center retailers will join the festivities by adding great summer sales and in-store events throughout the day.

“With such great success at last year’s event, we are excited to once again offer Garland-area residents and visitors a free, family-friendly celebration on this special holiday,” said Monica Bermea, director of marketing and business development for Firewheel Town Center. “We value our role in the local community, and we look forward to honoring the sacrifices of the men and women who serve in our nation’s armed services.”

Patrons are encouraged to bring sunscreen as well as their own chairs and blankets. Coolers, open alcohol containers, and pop-up tents will not be allowed.  Early arrival is suggested, as onsite parking is limited. DART transportation will be available.
