A MOMent with Asiah Lemon from Girls Who Lead.
As a mom of a teenage girl, this quote means a lot to me “Redefining what is possible and empowering girls to lead.”
As a mom of a girl, this is a scary world we live in for so many reasons as the world discriminates against girls in so many ways. I wish they didn’t have to deal with these types of things but we can’t fix the world so we have to empower our girls. Girls who lead does this through their coaching services and workshops they provide. Girls who lead stands firm on the notion that, it is not about the labeled leadership role but it is about how the 21st Century girls live their lives and develop a sense of self-awareness.
Leslie and I sat down and we looked through Girls Who Lead together as I wanted to spend some time with her as she will be moving to Houston next month and I may not see her much once she does. I wanted to let her know how much I love her and how proud I am of her.
Through the website, I reminded her to be a leader and to teach others and to empower them through the things she does. Once we finished she emailed the link to the site to her friend Lanie and her cousin Alex as she wanted to empower them as well.
Leslie was so impressed by the site and what it stands for that she is thinking of signing up for Big Brothers and Sister to help empower a little girl that may need to build her self-esteem. I am so proud of Leslie for wanting to do this as I know from personal experience how big an impact they can make in a child’s life
Leslie and her friends will be ordering some of the T-Shirts that Girls Who Lead has for sale as they want to shout out to the world what all it means and to teach others about the site and to get them involved in it.
As a mom, I am so happy I found the site and what all it stands up for. I am proud to have them as a sponsor on my blog and to invite them to my Radio Show as I want to get this message out to everyone in the world.
