December 7th is Letter Writing Day #LetterWritingDay and I don’t know about you but I miss writing and receiving letters in the mail. I think Charlie and I should find a pen pal then we could celebrate Letter Writing Day with them.
If Charlie was still #homeschooling full time I would have had him practice cursive writing he has been wanting to learn when writing letters which could even be to me. Although, his girlfriend Mikaylia lives out of town and he could mail letters to her turning #LetterWritingDay into a #teachingmoments.
If your like my family it’s been so long since we wrote letters, but fortunately today we have no excuse because it’s National Letter Writing Day which as you know falls on December 7th! Letter writing has been in decline because of smartphones, the Internet and before that, the telephone, but for hundreds of years, writing letters was the only way for people separated by distance to get in touch with one another.
Today Letter Writing Day is a great day to get back to basics and hand-write a letter. But isn’t the idea of sitting down for half an hour and hand-writing something to somebody special? We miss it. Don’t you? Write back soon. Love, us.

- If you have the means and opportunity today then you should purchase nice paper which you could order online, but in keeping with the analog spirit of the day, why not visit a Stationary Store and pick some nice paper up in person.
- In paper are all kinds of textures and weights available, and you can purchase unique envelopes, as long as the address label is visible to the post office and they can see where to send the letter.
- If you’d like to reconnect with old friends or pick a political figure whom you’d really like to express something to write a letter today.
- If you’re into a particular issue like saving the Bees or looking out for Marine life, check out the post office for stamps that show those things.
- The recent black heritage series has important figures from black history on the Stamps which would look nice on your letter.
- If your letter is formal, don’t forget to Google the appropriate salutations! to use like Dear Sir! or Madam.
- If you really want to make an impression on your recipient, purchase old-fashioned sealing wax and a seal with your initial on it, so that it looks like they’re getting a letter from the Count of Monte Christo.
