Growing up we never think about becoming a caregiver for our parents but it did with my Mom when she became sick with Cancer for my sister and brother. Then my dad became sick and they also took care of him because he was in Oklahoma and I was in Texas.
Fast forward and both my parents have passed away and David’s parents are getting older. David Dad now has Dementia and his mother takes care of him and also her brother who is Mentally Challenged and in a home. If something were to happen to either of David’s parents we would become there Caregivers which is why I would like to celebrate National Caregivers Day and thank people who does this job.
How to Observe National Caregivers Day
- Donate to a caregiver’s favorite charity because giving gifts to a professional caregiver is considered off-limits but a donation on behalf of the caregiver can be made to a charity of their choice and would be a welcome gift.
- -Appreciation and words go a long way in giving joy and boosting the morale of a caregiver. Take the opportunity to day to express your gratitude through a letter and let the caregiver in your life know how much their work means to you and your loved ones.
- If you have the opportunity today take the time to create hype on Social Media around caregivers to show there support and let others know what an awesome job they’re doing. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #NationalCaregiversDay
