As people prepare for Thanksgiving this week I wanted to share a new book with you. The Turn of the Screwdriver: 50 Dark and Twisted Literary Cocktails Inspired by Anne Rice, Mary Shelley, Edgar Allan Poe, and Other Legendary Gothic Authors! by Iphigenia Jones (Author). First and foremost this book would have been better at Halloween because it contains 50 Dark & Twisted Literary Cocktails inspired by Anne Rice, Mary Shelly and Edgar Allen Poe and Other Legendary Gothic Authors.
But I like to shake things up so why not use this book during Thanksgiving because people go Gothic all year long. Charlie looked at the book sitting on my desk and let me know he liked the Skeleton. I liked the purple binding and David liked the drink on the cover of the book with Olives that look like you could reach out and grab them.
In the book is Bar Basics which I needed because I know nothing about a Bar. What about you? Then there is Classic Cocktails (1764-1970) including “Cat On A Hot Gin Roof” David can’t wait to try. For me I think I will have “the Turn of the Screwdriver”.
Next is the Modern (1970-2022) and inside it is Mexican Hot Chocolate I can’t wait to try as the Weather changes and it gets colder here. David said he would like to try (Things We Mulled In The Cider) because he likes Apple Cider a lot and its his go to drink in Winter. How about you?
I like how the Author has shared techniques with us that will make our drinks go from boring to classy. There is so many recipes in here that David and I can’t wait to throw a Party and sample the drinks with our friends. Would you like to come? Before you ask no it isn’t a Halloween Party just a party to celebrate our friends and family.
