September 20th is National Pepperoni Pizza Day #PepperoniPizzaDay which would have made my son happy because he thinks he should be able to eat Pizza 7 days a week 24 hours a day all year long. Only we do not have #Pizza in the house at the moment and before you ask no, I don’t plan on purchasing any Pizza at all this week. If the kids want Pizza they need to purchase it themselves.
That shouldn’t stop you from celebrating pepperoni Pizza on September 20th, which is when we indulge on Pepperoni Pizza allowing us to recognize the most popular Pizza ever created. Pepperoni Pizza Day celebrates Pizza enjoyed by young and old alike.
Pizza comes with many different toppings, although Pepperoni is the single most popular Pizza ever. Whether you like your Pizza Chicago Style or New York Style, thin and crispy or deep dish, top your Pizza with Pepperoni!
Did you know according to legend, Raffaele Esposito created the first Pizza in June of 1889. The Queen of Italy, Margherita of Savoy, inspired the Pizza maker so much, he created the Pie-shaped delicacy. In the Queen’s honor, Raffaele Esposito named it Pizza Margherita and topped the Pizza with Tomatoes, Basil, and Mozzarella. The colors representing the Italian flag. Would you like to try a Margherita Pizza because my family will pass on this Pizza because we don’t like Tomatoes. Do you?
Since then, Pizza has evolved and now Pizza includes a multitude of toppings including Anchovies and Pineapple to Sausage and Bacon. However, Pepperoni remains the most popular Pizza topping of all time. Do you like Pepperoni because my family does but sometimes Pepperoni bothers me. How about you?
Italian-Americans developed the ever-popular topping through time-honored Sausage-making techniques. Seasoned Pork and Beef Sausage are smoked and cured. Once the product is ready to be sliced, it’s placed on a delicious Pie and baked.
