August 10 World Lion Day #WorldLionDay

The Mommies Reviews

Today is one day I wish David was off because August 10 World Lion Day #WorldLionDay. David has been wanting to go to the Zoo which we haven’t done in a long time. Teh question is should we go to the Fort Worth Zoo or Dallas Zoo and why?

Then we could celebrate Lions on #WorldLionDay with Charlie and Debbie if we could talk them into going with us this morning. Since we can’t get to any Zoo this morning I thought you might want to watch a movie or two.

Charlie and I’ve decided we are going to watch Lion King DVD then we will listen to The Lion King: 2019 Soundtrack. Before we sit down to watch the movie Charlie and I are going to make Sugar Cookies in the shape of Lions.

If your busy and you don’t have time to join us I’ve included a recipe for Sugar Cookies you can make with your friends and family. Along with the link to purchase your own Lion Cookie Cutter to use with your friends and family.

Recipe for Sugar Cookies:

Ingredients

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Stir flour, baking soda, and baking powder together in a small bowl.
  3. Beat sugar and butter together in a large bowl with an electric mixer until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in flour mixture. Roll dough into walnut-sized balls and place 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until edges are golden, 8 to 10 minutes. Cool on the baking sheets briefly before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
