Today is the last day of July and July 31 National Avocado Day #NationalAvocadoDay. I can’t wait to share National Avocado Day with my mother in law Sherry who loves Avocados. My father in law has been in the hospital and Sherry loves #StreetTacos. I was thinking about going to Rosa’s and getting her a order of Street Tacos and Guacamole for dinner.
Sherry can celebrate National Avocado Day which my family will pass on celebrating because none of us like Avocado’s. How about you . Do you like Avocado’s and if so is there a special way you prepare them or are you like Sherry and eat them in Guacamole although I do know people add #Avocado’s to Salads.
David Fairchild, introduced the Avocado to the U.S. which are creamy, and delicious. Avocado’s are vitamin-heavy symbols of nature offering us the good life at a bargain price. - If you’re one of the lucky one and can get creative in the kitchen, the Avocado and the blender are your friends. Blend a Avocado with some Bananas and Cocoa Powder and you’ll have Chocolate Pudding. Blend a Avocado with Garlic, Olive Oil, Salt and Lemon Juice, and you’ve got a Salad Dressing.
- If you want to make something with a fresh healthy fat, reach for an Avocado.
- Did you know you can use ,mashed Avocado with Banana and Olive Oil make a great hair conditioning paste. Mash the Avocado up with Olive Oil, Honey and Yogurt and you have a facial mask. Dry up the Avocado Pit and grind it up with Avocado flesh and Salt to create an exfoliating foot scrub.

Recipe for Guacamole
Ingredients
- 2 ripe avocados
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime or lemon juice
- 2 to 4 tablespoons minced red onion or thinly sliced green onion
- 1 to 2 serrano (or jalapeño) chilis, stems and seeds removed, minced
- 2 tablespoons cilantro (leaves and tender stems), finely chopped
- Pinch freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 ripe tomato, chopped (optional)
- Red radish or jicama slices for garnish (optional)
- Tortilla chips, to serve
Cut the avocados:
- Cut the avocados in half. Remove the pit. Score the inside of the avocado with a blunt knife and scoop out the flesh with a spoon. Place in a bowl.
- Mash the avocado flesh: Using a fork, roughly mash the avocado. (Don’t overdo it! The guacamole should be a little chunky.)
- Add the remaining ingredients to taste: Sprinkle with salt and lime (or lemon) juice. The acid in the lime juice will provide some balance to the richness of the avocado and will help delay the avocados from turning brown. Add the chopped onion, cilantro, black pepper, and chilis. Chili peppers vary individually in their spiciness. So, start with a half of one chili pepper and add more to the guacamole to your desired degree of heat.Remember that much of this is done to taste because of the variability in the fresh ingredients. Start with this recipe and adjust to your taste.
- Serve immediately: If making a few hours ahead, place plastic wrap on the surface of the guacamole and press down to cover it to prevent air reaching Garnish with slices of red radish or Jigama strips. Serve with your choice of store-bought tortilla chips.
- Refrigerate leftover guacamole up to 3 days.
Note: Chilling tomatoes hurts their flavor. So, if you want to add chopped tomato to your guacamole, add it just before serving.
