Summer Gift Guide: Accessories That Make Ideal Companions In Hot Weather

The Mommies Reviews

Just because there aren’t all that many formal events in the summer, that doesn’t mean gift-giving stops. In fact, it’s the sort of thing that continues throughout the year.

This post is a summer gift guide. We look at all the cool accessories you can buy your friends during this season to wow them (and let them know you care).

Here’s what to get:

A Hat With A Sunshade

Everyone knows that UV light is bad for the skin. That’s why people have been wearing hats and caps in the summer since time immemorial.

However, hats with sunshades are a relatively new thing. These come with a visor at the front to block out even more UV light and help those worried about their skin enjoy themselves on the beach or out in nature.

Originally, these were a Korean invention (to help them maintain their “glass skin,” but they’ve since become much more universal, with exports across the globe.

Another obvious choice for a summer gift accessory is a humble pair of sunglasses. Shades again reduce the UV light getting to the eyes, protecting them when outdoors in the middle of the day.

Just make sure you get glasses with an official UV rating on them. Some manufacturers simply add tinted plastic, which won’t actually protect the eyes all that much.

Silver Earrings

Silver jewellery is another fun summertime accessory. It can go with pretty much anything, from beachwear to party dresses.

Silver studs are the most versatile. Recipients can even don these when going for swims in the pool.

You can also get dangly versions for summer parties and BBQs. These are fun, but their usefulness can sometimes be more limited.

Tote Bags

Another cool accessory gift idea is a tote bag. These are handy for going to the beach or on picnics with friends.

The nice thing about totes is how completely non-offensive they are. You can buy them for pretty much anyone and they will make use of them.

The best material is natural canvas. However, you can get some pretty decent nylon versions these days.

You can also get them personalized to turn them into more of a gift (and less of a “bag for life”).

Water Bottle With Filter

If your friend is an outdoorsy-type person, you might also consider getting them a water bottle with a filter. These are ideal companions for camping and spending long periods in nature.

Water bottles work by passive filtration and gravity. You put dirty water into the top section and it travels through the filter to the bottom, by which time, it’s ready to drink.

What’s more, many of these bottles actually come with LED displays that tell the user when the water is ready. It’s all very high-tech.

Sunscreen

Finally, you might want to get your friend some expensive and non-toxic mineral sunscreen. This stuff relies on zinc oxides which are widely regarded as being harmless compared to conventional “chemical” products. Just warn them to keep the sunscreen away from their clothes as it can cause marks.
