The Mommies Reviews

Anyone who is a true Texan loves there Bar B Que and the sides are a big part of why people love Bar B Que. I am so excited to be able to celebrate May 16 National Barbecue Day #NationalBBQDay by having Bar B Que twice this week and yes, one of the days was actually on May 16th, Surprise. Surprise.

On Wednesday we had to go have Charlie’s Senior pictures done with his Uncle Don Lambert with Airbrush Imaging. Once we finished the pictured we decided to take Charlie out to celebrate his graduation. Charlie choose to eat at Shady Oak Bar B Que & Grill in Watauga Texas because we all love there Bar B Que and the Bread they serve with dinner is amazing.

On Friday my best friend and I went out to our weekly lunch. @DebbieFinney choose Red Hot & Blue because we can split a Baked Potatoe with Pulled Pork and choose a side and we both love there Potato Salad which is the best in Fort Worth along with a side of Mac & Cheese. Daivd likes the All in Burger so I brought him one home.

This week we will be carrying on celebrating National Barbeque Day because I plan on making Pork Ribs in our Crock Pot and Mock Potato Salad which uses Del Monte Canned Potatoes. Then I will fix either my Homemade Baked Beans or Deviled Eggs or Sacred Eggs as Charlie calls them because he doesn’t think anything should be named after the Devil because he is bad and I agree with Charlie.

National BBQ Day is celebrated every year on May 16th which is a day to serve as a reminder of the delicious BBQ food that Americans have access to. To celebrate National BBQ Day you can head to a restaurant or have a grill in your own backyard. Just make sure you celebrate National BBQ Day with lot of food, family and laughter and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Barbecues are one of America’s favorite pastimes. Since the activity is highly common in the U.S., it is no surprise that a special day has been dedicated to celebrating the barbecuing tradition. Although the concept of barbecuing did not originate in America, the activity has become an essential part of American culture today.

The history of barbecuing in the U.S. goes back to Colonial times where any celebration was incomplete without a cookout. After the Revolutionary War was won and the first bridge was built over the Missouri River, barbecue celebrations erupted all over the Nation. Even the American Presidents are famous for hosting massive barbecues during times of success and on days of special observances. In fact, George Washington’s diary is said to have referenced a barbecue event that lasted for three days. That’s how deeply rooted barbecuing is in the Country’s history!

Barbecues are a White House tradition thanks to President Lyndon B. Johnson who started this trend by hosting the first-ever barbecue in the presidential headquarters. The food items served at the event included delicious Texas-style barbecue Wings. Which I would have passed on but Charlie and David would have eaten as many Wings as they could have gotten there hands on. How about you?
