Conversations with the Devil by Daniel Wescott

The Mommies Reviews

Good morning, as we begin a new week I wanted to share a new book with you Conversations with the Devil by Daniel Wescott I received a PDF copy of the book from Voracious Readers for this review. Inside this post are my affiliate links if you click on the links and make a purchase I will make a small percentage from the items you purchase.

I new thought I would read a book titled Conversations with the Devil but after reading information on the book I becamse intriged and wanted to know what someone would talk about when having a drink with the Devil. The Author has the main character on a mission to confront the devil about the death of his grandfather, and the devil will surprise you! My question was why would you think the Devil would have anything to do with the death of your family member.

Conversations with the Devil is set in various locations and time periods and the story offers a compelling exploration of morality and ethics, This book had me looking through not only my own beliefs about good and evil but my families as well. The titles in the book cover the following subjects: Old Nick on the Truth, The Odious One on the Seduction of the Damned, Satan on Good, Evil and All That Sort of Thing, Big Lou on Free Will, The Father of the Damned on Soul Searching. What you might find surprising is this book isn’t only serious but funny at times.

About the book:

A little Feedback from the Advance Copy Readers:

“I loved it… …Conversations with the Devil had me recalling that old CS Lewis classic, The ScrewTape Letters. But this one wasn’t lessons on how to ruin a life. The Devil was (mostly) friendly, off work, and enjoying some deep discussions about the big questions in life with some fun and well developed characters.”

“Surprising, and funny… …It’s like Mitch Albom’s Tuesdays with Morrie if Morrie was Satan and they were meeting at a bar instead of a study.”

“I sat down to read the first chapter and couldn’t put the book down… … Reminded me of Illusions by Richard Bach, except there was no plane and it didn’t matter how you felt about it.”

Tuesdays with Morrie meets Illusions and the ScrewTape Letters in this insightful and dark-humored collection of stories exploring the big questions in life.

Pull up a stool and have a drink with the vacationing Father of Lies while he provides his unbiased take on topics like the truth, free will, and the seduction of the damned. It’ll have you laughing, reflecting, and wondering about Karma as the stories unfold and you see yourself within them.

An intelligent and deep collection of various encounters with The Odious One, while he is off-duty and discussing the big philosophical questions in life. Diabolical humor and Devilish insights abound in these tales set in different parts of the world and at different times in history.

Ease yourself back, get comfortable, make sure you’ve got something nice to drink, and enjoy Conversations with the Devil. And don’t worry too much about your eternal soul. The Devil is on holiday within these pages.

Meet the Author: Daniel Westcott

Simply another bald guy spinning a yarn.

I’ve been writing novel length fiction since the late ‘90’s and shorter stuff prior to that. It’s a secret, so don’t tell anyone. But, the whole writing thing started when Mr. Talbot, my fifth grade english teacher, introduced me to poetry. I wrote a bunch of really bad rhyming stuff, but that guy kept being positive and it stuck. And now look at me.

I’m a frequent traveler who prefers mixing with the locals and stumbling through the language barrier. You might bump into me and my family taking a collectivo while trying to find that one elusive cenote, or hiking through Cinque Terre while trying to speak Italian loud and slow. You know, the smile-and-nod-a-lot method with a spattering of English, German, and Spanish thrown in just in case. Knowing some German saved my bacon on Sardinia once. Just saying…

I’m one of those outgoing introverts you hear rumors of. I really like my alone time but like being at a get together, too. I know, weird. I find solace in the deep woods and on the water. I like to sail and have an odd desire to cross both the Arctic and Antarctic circles by some non-motorized way. In the summer months, mind you.

My novels are all mixed genre fiction with lots of action, psychological elements, relationship issues, and edge of your seat thriller moments permeating them. Prior to getting serious about my writing, I viewed the stories as a way of decompressing from the pressures of running an electrical contracting business. A much needed vacation of the mind, if you like. They’re always a deep dive. I guess you could call me a Speculative Fiction writer though I like to think of myself as a Writer of Fiction. Any who…

Here’s my sales pitch:

Blending life and lending visions, Daniel delivers fast paced thrill rides with strong, realistic characters, and intense interactions. Readers can expect to experience the stories first hand through the eyes and emotions of the characters. It’s an edge of your seat adventure that will leave you breathless and wanting more. Always a deep dive into the mind, his novels offer the readers a personal involvement in acute sensations.

Enjoy.

Thank you,
