The Mommies Reviews

I would like to share a new book called Hexes and Hooligans by Elizabeth Pantley, Author I received a PDF Copy of from the Author and Voracious Readers in exchange for this review. Hexes and Hooligans is the newest adventure of the Magical Mystery Book Club. The books in the series can be read as a standalone and they don’t have to be read in any particular order. If you haven’t checking into these books yet,, this club will get you sucked right into their books! Inside this post is my affiliate links. If you click on the links and you make a purchase I will make a small percentage from the products you purchase.

Hexes and Hooligans is a book club comprised of eight people, a cat, and a ghost. What makes this book club special? This is a magical book club and when the group picks a book from the magic library, they actually travel into the book to solve a mystery. In this story, the group travels to a small, charming town where the inhabitants are gnome-like. There’s a local college and students are scared because several of them have been hexed. They look totally different and the timing couldn’t be worse. There is a big event coming up, the Honeybee Moon Festival and a pageant which these students can no longer participate in. Can the group work with a local investigator and find the culprit responsible?

I love how the Author included red Cardinals in this book which is the first one in the series I’ve had the opportunity to read but I would like to purchase the other books and start my own book club. Would you like to join us? I can’t wait to share this book with David because he loves Gnomes just like my best friend Debbie and the Author has Gnomes taking part in pageants? Can you imagine that?

There is no murder in this story, which works well as the book club members have to work out who or what is behind the inflections affecting the contestants. I found the book to be humorous at times like the Author naming one of the characters Sharlock Knomes.

About the book:

Would you join a book club that gets sucked into their cozy mysteries? These people did, and now they are hooked on traveling into books to become the amateur sleuths!

The book selection of the month takes the club into a charming and idyllic world of gnome-like people who love the earth, celebrating, and honey. What they don’t like is the mysterious ailment that is turning students at the local college into hideous versions of themselves.

The timing is terrible, as it coincides with the upcoming Honeybee Moon Festival, the community’s biggest celebration of the year.

The event is only a week away. Can the motley group determine what’s causing the students’ transformations, stop it from spreading, and get them back to normal? They better, since it’s the only way they can exit the book and get back home to Colorado.

Meet the Author: Elizabeth Pantley

As a mom of four, two boys and two girls, I know firsthand that raising children is a unique experience every day. Our children bring us a level of joy, and a depth of love, that nothing else in our history has prepared us for. They change us as human beings, and we can never go back to who we were before they entered our lives.
