I would like to share a new book and to let you know this is also a new Author to me. Just from the title of the book The Bitter End: A Love by Elise Lapham (Author) captured my attention. I love a good old fashioned love story which makes this a romance my favorite genre of books to read. How about you? I was blessed to receive a copy of the book in exchange for this review.
Let me tell you this book only has a 171 pages in it which was a blessing as I had sat down to read the book while David and Charlie were at his grandparents playing basketball. With them being gone two hours I was able to finish most of the book before they returned home which was a Godsend because we had plans that evening and I didn’t want to put the book down.
I’ve always wanted to visit Cape Cod with my family and through the story of The Bitter End I felt like I was there with the characters. I liked how the story takes place in the Vietnam War which my dad served in. Did your parents? You will find passion in the characters as well as conflict as they work out things not only from there past but the future.
Like my dad the gentleman in the book was a alcoholic and yes, even my husband David is a recovering alcoholic but thank the LORD I never had to deal with the things the lady did in this book nor did my mom. Hearing her husband had a affair is the worse thing a spouse can do to those they love. Reading the book made me stop and thank the LORD that I’ve never had to deal with infidelity. Have you?
I love how she was able to take her son and begin a new life away from all the heartache her husband brought his family. At the Cape she finds someone new but things may not work out the way she would like because there is a secret that may tear them apart. Before you ask me what happens or what the secret is I am not going to tell you because you need to pick up a copy of The Bitter End: A Love to find out for yourself.
The Bitter End: A Love is the perfect book to share with your girlfriends over a glass of wine. Just be prepared as you finish the last page you will be wondering what is going to happen after the story ends. This book is full of plot twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat and the ride may get bumpy at times so hold on tight.
