Taste of Home’s Make Ahead Classics, 2017

The Mommies Reviews

I was cleaning up my office and found another Taste of Home’s Make Ahead Classics, 2017 Cookbook which my mother-in-law gave me from her Cookbook collection. I like knowing inside the book is 151 classic Time-Saving Recipes which Charlie and I can prepare in between Homeschool and working on my blog.

Just looking at the bowl of Stew on the cover of the book is making me hungry and reminding me of y childhood in the Winter when my dad would make a huge pan of Stew and Cornbread. I wish he was here to make some for me now. No, one\s Stew is as good as my dad\s was and before you ask no, my mom didn’t make the Stew. That wasn’t her cup of Tea. She was known for her Potato Salad that was so good it would make you want to slap yo mama.

I love how the cookbook is broken down into sections so we know what types of appliances we would need like a Slow Cooker (Crock Pot). The table of contents makes what I’m looking for or not looking for easy to find. Charlie liked finding out there is recipes that only uses 5 ingredients as it would save time and money.

We start with easy appetizer I can make Charlie and I to have during our Movie Night like Balsamic- Glazed Chicken Wings for the guys and for me Marmalade Meatballs. For David we would make Crips Baked Wontons. Would you like to join us for appetizers and if you let us know what yu would like we will make it as well.

Then there was Soups, Sides & More. David will only eat Chicken Noodle Soup or Tomato Soup and his mom\s Tinny Noodles. While Charlie only eats Potato Soup from certain restaurants. I would be the one to eat Soup. I wouldn’t mind trying Big Batch Dinner Rolls and my Potato Cheese and bacon Soup I make. Would you like to join me for some?

Then we go to Beef Entrees which is my downfall while David likes Pork and Charlie prefer Chickens. What about you? Let’s try the Bavarian Pot Roast. For Charlie and David, I think we will make Macha Beef Dip Sandwiches. Would you like to join them for dinner? Or I can share my Bavarian Pot Roast with you. OMG there is even Tasty Burritos and I wonder if they taste like my grandmothers that was out of the world good.

We follow up with Poultry recipes. I think I will make the guys Honey Mustard Chicken. Would you like some? I will be having Favorite Chicken Pot Pie I just wish they had a recipe for a Beef Pot Pie as well because it’s my favorite. What about you. Do you like Pot Pies? If not, then you might want to check out the Pork section.

We always have Pork Chops in our freezer, and I think Charlie can make Marinated Pork Chops for his Homeschool Cooking Class. Or Charlie can prepare Grilled Pork Tenderloins which I think his grandmother would like. Last but not least is the section for Other Make- Ahead Meals and Sweet Treats. I am not going to share any recipes from this section because I want you to check out the book on your own and don’t forget to check out all the handy tips included in the book.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
