See Inside How Things Work

The Mommies Reviews

I sat down to read See Inside How Things Work a children’s book written by Conrad Mason Illustrated by Colin King in exchange for this review. See Inside How Things Work which is a children’s book from usborne.com

Charlie and I will be using See Inside How Things Work in our Homeschool Science Class as we see how things work and how we can use these items in our home. Would you like to join us as we check out the products mentioned in the book. Then in Charlie’s music class we will be checking out the chapter on making music.

I enjoyed learning about a simple machine, and how they work. Opening the flaps up to learn more facts kept Charlie busy and interested in the story. The illustrations in the book are amazing. Charlie and David loved the section titled Movers & shakers which showed pictures of the concrete mixer which David used to drive.

With Charlie taking Auto Mechanics this year to prepare him for Driver’s Ed getting going was fun to read and examining the car prepared Charlie for class this week. Before we know it, Charlie will be driving. Lord help me. Making music has brought up a Field Trip Charlie and I will go on to a music store to see all the instruments up close. Would you like to go with us?

We touched on waterworks, and we learned about a Fire Truck which let Charlie tell me he would like to visit a fire station which we’ve never done. Would you like to come with us? Floating & Flying was fun seeing the airplanes which David works on and the boats which Charlie hasn’t ever had the opportunity to go on. Looks like next summer I need to rent a boat for our family. Would you like to come to the lake with us?

Then there are everyday inventions which we can study in our Science Class and Charlie thought seeing a microwave in the book was the coolest things ever. I liked learning about the Toaster now I would like to make some toast. Would you like to have some with me? I even have Grape Jelly or Peanut Butter for our Toast.

Before you ask is that all you will find in See Inside How Things Work. No it isn’t. I’m not going to tell you anymore because I believe you should pick up your own copy of See Inside How Things Work to read not only on your own but to share with any children you know who might be interesteed in how things work.

An amazing flap book packed with inventions, machines, gadgets and devices, and facts and information about how they work. Over 90 flaps reveal the insides of car engines, toilets, escalators, submarines and microwaves and many, many other machines. Includes internet links to websites with animations, games and experiments.
