Paws of War Is Urgently Trying To Rescue a Puppy For Marine Who Was Deployed Overseas
Paws of War, an organization helping military members and veterans, is helping a U.S. Marine get his rescued dog to America
NESCONSET, New York – (August 21, 2023) –When U.S. military members are stationed overseas they sometimes find themselves making friends with stray dogs and cats. Recently, some U.S. Marines deployed overseas came across two stray dogs that shared a Romeo and Juliet story, so they gave the dogs those names. The two dogs loved each other and became mascots of the base. One day, Juliet disappeared and the fairytale came to an end, and now they don’t want Romeo to be met with the same fate, so a Marine is heading up a mission to bring him to the U.S.
After becoming good friends with the dogs, one day Juliet went missing in an area that is very dangerous for dogs. Nobody knew what happened to her, and it has haunted the guys who cared for the dogs. This prompted Staff Sergeant Philip Bailey to reach out to Paws of War for help bringing Romeo to America, where he will live out his life with Staff Sgt. Bailey’s family.
“I was haunted by the fact that I didn’t know what happened to Juliet and I didn’t want that to happen to Romeo,” explains Staff Sgt. Bailey. “I reached out to Paws of War for help getting him to America, and they are coming though. I don’t think there is any way he could survive out here on his own.”
“Bringing a dog here from overseas is difficult and costly, especially when they are stationed in places without a commercial airport,” says Robert Misseri, co-founder of Paws of War. “Time is of the essence and we are doing everything we can to reunite these two. This is an expensive rescue, and we do not charge our heroic military a penny for these rescues. We couldn’t do this without the continued support of people in the community, who donate money to support missions like this. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank everyone for their assistance and for caring so much.”
