School resumes tomorrow for a lot of students. If you homeschool like we do then your children may have already been in school. Either way I would like to share a new addition to our Back-To School Gift Guide 2023: Ganesha’s Great Race by Sanyjay Patel & Emily Haynes. I received a copy of in exchange for this review and the spot in our Back-To-School Guide 2023. You will find this children’s book is also from ChronicleKids.com
Before I share my review for Ganesha’s Great Race. I would like to share another book about Ganesha. This children’s book is called Ganesha’s Sweet Tooth. I was blessed to receive a copy of this book as well for a review which you will find here:
Ganesha’s Great Race has a captivating cover with the Elephant that I feel in love with. You should see all the pretty colors which isn’t to bright or distracting in any way. Did you see the Flags? Aren’t they pretty? I love how they used dfferent colors for each letter of the title including purple my favorite color.
I sat down to read Ganesha’s Great Race. Before I could begin reading Ganesha’s Great Race. My sister Debbie knocked on the door. Debbie had my niece Lily and my nephew Jason with her. They asked me what I was doing and if I wanted to go get a drink.
I let them know it would be a few minutes because I needed to finish reading Ganesha’s Great race. Then Charlie and I would have to get dressed. Jason said Aunt Glenda go get dressed. I will sit by the restroom and read the story to you. My heart melted because I hardly ever get to share books with Lily and Jason.
Jason began to read the story and he hadn’t gotten far when Lily said its my turn to read. Charlie came downstairs and sat with Lily and Jason. Then Charlie began to read the book. Then my sister read a page of the story. I finished getting dressed. I was able to read a page of the book to everyone. Turning our story time into a Family Affair and allowing Charlie to get his homeschool reading class done early.
Lily let me know she loved the illustrations and all the adventures that happened in the book. Charlie let me know he liked knowing the book touches on myths of India which we can study in our Homeschool Classes this year. Would you like to join us?
Jason liked learning about the father Shiva the God of destruction as long as he didn’t destroy anything. Charlie said he wished he was as big as the father was. Lily and I thought the mom was pretty and liked the Bird she was holding. They loved finding out what the mom was but were not going to tell you. You need to read the book to find out.
There is two brothers in the story. Lily said that wasn’t fair they needed a little girl. I thought I would let you knowone of the brothers names is Ganesha. I’m not going to tell you what he is known for because I want you to check out the book on your own.
The older brother is named Kartikeya. Once again I am not going to tell you what it means because you need to check out the book on your own. Each brother has there own animal but to find out what animals they have you will need to read the book.
The brothers play together but sometimes they compete against each other. The Gods gave them a Mango and. The only way one of them can have the Mango is to win it. To win the Mango they decided on a chase around the world because Chess was too boring
They have to circle the world three times. Kartikeya takes off and Ganesha’s fater tells him he better hurry or he will not catch his brother. Instead Ganesha’s goes to take a bath he doesn’t try and catch his brother. Ganesha’s and his animal think of ways to go around the world without really going.
Guess what. Kartikeya finishes his first lap. Waking around a globe or drawing the world on the ground and walking around it. Does that count as a lap around the world? You must read the book to find out. I’m not going to tell you who wins or why because you need to read the story for yourself.
