According to a recent report, “having kids lowers women’s self-esteem for at least three years.” Of course, there are many different reasons for this.
For example, our bodies change rapidly when pregnant, and it may take a while for things to return to normal, leading to many feeling uncomfortable in their bodies. Pregnancy and childbirth also cause significant hormonal changes, which can impact our confidence levels.

However, whether you’re caring for a newborn or a teen, it’s crucial that you feel as confident as possible. With that in mind, here are some simple ways to increase your confidence as a mom!
Take care of your smile.
Studies have found that the more often we smile, the more confident we feel. However, many people try to hide or mask their smile as they are insecure about how it looks – whether due to missing or discoloured teeth. As a result, by working to take better care of your smile, you’re killing two birds with one stone.
In addition to regular dental check-ups, you might also want to consider cosmetic procedures too. For example, dentures are perfect for those that may be missing teeth and want to restore their full, natural smile.
Once you begin to take care of your dental health, you’ll likely find that you begin to smile more often as a result of this.
Look after your skin.
While it may seem like there isn’t enough time in the day to indulge in self-care, maintaining a quick and simple skincare routine is a great confidence booster. This is because it can help you tackle many skincare complaints that would otherwise knock your confidence, such as acne, scarring, dryness and even wrinkles.
Beyond a daily routine, you should also ensure you drink plenty of water. This comes down to the simple fact that “people who drink large amounts of water are less likely to suffer from scars, wrinkles, and soft lines, and they won’t show as many signs of aging as those who drink little amounts of water.”
Find an exercise routine that works for you.
Indulging in regular exercise is another excellent way to elevate your confidence levels – but not always in the way you may think. For example, many people view exercise as nothing more than a way to shed extra pounds or ‘baby weight’, but its real benefits actually lie outside of weight loss. This is because regular exercise can increase your body’s production of mood-boosting hormones, which means you’ll naturally begin to feel more confident in your skin!
As such, you must find the best exercise program for each decade of your life. After all, the exercise you enjoyed and got the most out of when you were younger may no longer be as entertaining or accessible.
Beyond this, however, you must learn to embrace and love your natural body. While it may not match the societal standards we’re told to strive for – this does not mean it isn’t beautiful. In fact, it’s gorgeous!
