The Sister Effect

The Mommies Reviews

Last week Charlie, David and I went to Richland Library to turn in a couple books my sister Debbie had checked out for Charlie and I. While there I went on Faith and asked David to check into get a library card so Charlie and I would be able to check books out for Homeschool. I am so excited that after years and years of not having a library card David and I were able to get one of our own and we will be returning with Charlie so he can get his own Card.

While there I went out on a limb and asked if they had any books by Susan Mallery because Half Price Books didn’t and Barnes and Nobel only ad books of hers I had read in the past. The librarian helped me. I came home with two of Susan Mallery’s books. just finished The Sister Effect which was a new book for the Library and I would like to share my thoughts with you on the book. As well as let you know on the 5th I plan on having David check and see if they have Danielle Steel’s new book The Palazzo. I will purchase later in the year to add to my home library.

The Sister Effect is a book that started a little slow for me. I wasn’t sure I would finish the book or not but the more I read the more I became drawn in with Finely and her Niece. Then comes Sloan an alcholic but like my fathe5r. Although she did things I don’t think my dad ever did although my dad did end up spending a weekend in jail from drunk driving.

The mom was a on again off again parent as the girls grew up. Then there was the grandfather Lester who left then girls as teenagers but tells a lie to become a part of the family which made Finley distrust him again and then finally she found she loved him and wanted Lester to stay and be a part of her family.

With Sloan she couldn’t get past all the anger she had caused Finely until a accident happened, and she had to rebuild her life. Like most romances everyone lived happily ever after with lots of surprises and even laughter thrown in. i just wish I could find a man like Sloan and Finley found for my sister. Without Sloan’s boyfriends addiction.

Sloane went the other way.

Now Sloane is back, as beautiful and as damaged as ever…and she wants a relationship with her daughter. She says she’s changed, but Finley’s heart has been burned once too often for her to trust easily. But is her reluctance to forgive really about Sloane or worry over losing what she loves the most? With the help of a man who knows all too well how messy families can be, Finley will learn there’s joy in surrendering and peace in letting go.
