I would like to share a event taking place in Dallas through the Dallas Arts District. As the DALLAS ARTS DISTRICT CELEBRATES PRIDE with the 2023 Pride Block Party before you ask if my family will be attending no, we will not and I’ve not here to debate what is right or wrong, but this isn’t something we support but our friends and family may and its why we choose to share the event with you.
June 16 – Dallas Arts District joins the Crow Museum of Asian Art, Dallas Museum of Art and Nasher Sculpture Center to celebrate PRIDE
DALLAS –May 23, 2023 – Dallas Arts District, collaborating with the Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center, and Crow Museum of Asian Art of the University of Texas at Dallas, will present the sixth annual Dallas Arts District 2023 Pride Block Party, the largest Pride event in Downtown Dallas, kicking off on Friday, June 16, 2023.
In celebration of national LGBTQ+ Pride Month, we welcome all to this free, inclusive event in the heart of the Dallas Arts District for an array of cultural experiences including all-ages art activities, live music, spoken word, fashion shows, drag performances, dance, DJ sets, film, and an exhibition marking the 40th anniversary of Pride in Dallas. During the event, the DMA, the Nasher, and the Crow will all remain open until midnight, with interactions, performances, and vendor booths stationed along Harwood between Ross and Klyde Warren, and Flora Street between Olive and Harwood.
In 2018, this organically successful Pride Block Party was planned with approximately 12 organizations who support arts, culture, and the LGBTQ+ community. In its first year, the event attracted over 20,000 visitors coming from over 22 different zip codes, with 25% coming from out-of-state. Now, in its sixth iteration, Pride Block Party has continued to invite diverse communities to the streets of the Arts District, working with over 20 community partners. This unprecedented event is a unique Pride Celebration, emphasizing the lively intersection between arts and culture and the LGBTQ+ community.
“The LGBTQ+ community is an important part of Dallas’s history, and we are excited to honor their cultural contributions by hosting a night that brings together all kinds of people,” says Lily Cabatu Weiss, executive directors of the Dallas Arts District. “We look forward to promoting an energy of acceptance, love, pride, and of course, fun. It’s a huge celebration that shouldn’t be missed!”
