D is for Donut

Children's Book Reviews

Good morning, I thought I would share the cutest little children’s book with you this morning. D is for Donut by Rachel Teichman which I received a physical copy of the book in exchange for this review.

Life is funny I woke up wanting to go and get Donuts for Charlie and me. But Charlie slept in and David was working. I didn’t want to walk by myself so Donuts was out this morning. Then I remembered I had a copy of Do is for Donut. Let me tell you having a book full of Donuts from A to Z that didn’t help my Donut craving and now I want Donuts more than ever.

If my sister comes over this morning, I plan on sending my copy of D is for Donut to my niece Lily and Jason to read. I also plan on letting my sister know she is going to want to stop and get the kids Donuts because once my niece see’s the pretty pink Donut with Sprinkles on the cover of the book Lily will not leave her parents alone until they go and get her Donuts.

I loved learning about Donuts from A to Z and the beautiful illustrations. There were Donuts I hadn’t heard about which will allow Charlie and I to not only take a Field Trip to a Donut Store or Bakery but to a Book Store to purchase a Cookbook featuring the Donuts mentioned in the book which we can prepare in our Homeschool Cooking Class.

Once Charlie got up he picked up the book to read and couldn’t wait to share it with his dad. Hearing him and David pronounce some of the words was funny. We can use them in our Homeschool Spelling Class. In the meantime, we are on our way to our local crat Store Michaels to pick up supplies to do a Donut College. Would you like to join us for Art Class?

The Author even wrote me a note on a Donut Sticky Note that Charlie and I can’t wait to look for when we go to our Office Supply Store this week. Would you like to come with us and then we can share our book with you. As well as stopping off for a Donut or two or three. As long as you don’t tell anyone because there not on my diet. But sometimes a girl just needs to splurge and with this book today is that day.

Charlie and I had fun discussing the colors used on the cover of the book and I liked the light pink and Charlie liked the hot pink. My sister would like the light green and David would like the dark green making this book feel like this book was created for our family. in the book the Author reminds us Donuts are fried but I bet you could bake Donuts if you wanted to be healthier which I don’t. Donuts need to be and they must be fried. Don’t you agree with me?

I like how the Author reminds us to grab a glass of Milk. I will have a cup of Coffee and Charlie is going to have Chocolate Milk. Would you like to have a glass with Charlie? Or a cup of Coffee with me? A is for Apple Fritter. Did you know this is David’s favorite Donut? Charlie and my favorite is Glazed especially Glazed Twist. Or Donut Holes for me and when Charlie was little his favorite was Chocolate and my sister’s is Chocolate Cake. What is your favorite Donut and why?

Charlie, David and I enjoyed learning about Donuts like Loukoumades which we hadn’t heard of have you? How about a Cereal Donut? Which Charlie and I will pass on. We wouldn’t mind having a Powdered Sugar Donut from Dolly Madison in there take and home bags. Although Charlie said he would like Chocolate. How about you?

If you don’t feel like taking a Field Trip to your local Book Store the Author was cool enough to include recipes for Raised Donuts in the back of the book and how to make the Glaze for the Donuts. Or you could make mine and Suzzie’s favorite Donuts Biscuit Donuts which are yummy and so easy to make.

The Author amazed Charlie and I when she made it all the way through the alphabet and even had something with the letter z to share with us. I would tell you what it is but I believe you should check this cute little book out on your own. I believe it’s for toddlers and up. Although Children and Adults of all ages will enjoy this book. What’s stopping you from purchasing your own copy which you can order on Amazon.
