The Algorithm Will See You

The Mommies Reviews

I would like to share The Algorithm Will See You a new book I had the opportunity to receive a copy of in exchange for this review. The Algorithm Will See You called by Jennifer / JL Lycette. I hope you take the time to check out this new novel.

The Algorithm Will See You Now: A Novel is a medical fitness thriller book which isn’t a type of book I usually read. The medical field is always changing and if I want to stay up to date on what is happening, I knew I needed to dip my toe into this subject. The Author takes us to the intersection of AI, healthcare, corruption, and humanity.

Doctors and hospitals rely on AI to improve efficiency, reduce errors, provide better outcomes. All good. But what if they let algorithms determine whether treatment should be withheld when a patient stands only a slim chance of survival? Wouldn’t that be scary to have happen to yourself or someone you love?

As patients, we have the power to make those decisions, determining whether the pain of toxic treatments is worth the slim possibility that we might live? Lycette shows us what could happen if patients no longer had that choice? The Algorithm Will See You Now: had me on the edge of my seat and once I began reading the story, I didn’t want to put it down. I plan on sharing this book with everyone I know.

Book Summary

The most dangerous lies are the ones that use the truth to sell themselves.

Medical treatment determined by artificial intelligence could do more than make Hope Kestrel’s career. It could revolutionize healthcare.

What the Seattle surgeon doesn’t know is the AI has a hidden fatal flaw, and the people covering it up will stop at nothing to dominate the world’s healthcare — and its profits. Soon, Hope is made the scapegoat for a patient’s death, and only Jacie Stone, a gifted intern with a knack for computer science, is willing to help search for the truth.

But her patient’s death is only the tip of the conspiracy’s iceberg. The Director, Marah Maddox, is plotting a use for the AI far outside the ethical bounds of her physician’s oath. A staggering plan capable of reducing human lives to their DNA code, redefining the concepts of sickness and health, and delivering the power of life and death decisions into the hands of those behind the AI.

Even if the algorithm accidentally discards some who are treatable in order to make that happen…
