I would like to share a new romance Her Surprise Cowboy Groom by Cathy McDavid which I received for this review. Just look at that horse isn’t he pretty? More than that look at that COWBOY… YUMMY!! Although, we shouldn’t look because I bet there a family because look at the twins in the background. There so cute. As well as how the lady is looking at the COWBOY that is love. Real love.
Life is funny and I’m wondering if it’s trying to tell me something as I just finished a book by another Author that featured a wedding planner. Then I sit down to read Her Surprise Cowboy Groom co-owner of
Her Surprise Cowboy Groom is the 4th and final book in the author’s Wishing Well Springs series. This book give us Laurel’s story Cash’s sister and co-owner of their business. If you had read the first book The Cowboy’s Holiday Bride Cash was featured. Channing and Kenna from the second book, How to Marry a Cowboy, briefly return. Although most of the book is told from Laurel and Max’s point of view.
You should be prepared because if you wanted to learn more about the couple from the 3rd book they do not return nor are they mentioned. Not even a business was referred to. Here is a tip for you. It might be a good idea to read all the books in order because there are some discrepancies between books one and two and the third book could likely be skipped.
From there, it is – right off – into the new story. Laurel works far too hard and has no life outside of Bellissima – her wedding dress shop. There is a reason though that she is this way, and it stems from a failed relationship where Jason, her ex, took the focus off of her work and almost cost her the business. A mistake that Laurel does not want to repeat and will go to extreme lengths to prevent happening again.
Laurel decides to take a small break, and runs into Max’s pup Jelly Belly isn’t that the cutest name ever and doesn’t it make you want to meet and play with the Puppy? Then Laurel meets Max twins – Daisy and Addie. When Laurel meets Max, Laurel takes notice of his good looks and way with his twins Daisy and Addie.
As you can imagine Max is a single father to 3-year-old twins. After Max left a demanding job behind, he’s now setting up a “glampground” (Happy Trails) that will allow him time for his twins. Knowing this I might actually go camping. How about you? Max is at Wishing Well Springs as their carriage driver, more or less a trade for Cash’s services which gives both businesses a chance to cross-promote.
After meeting Laurel, Max is definitely not “interested” in her because Laurel reminds him of his ex-wife Charlene Max ex-wife a woman consumed with business success that causer her to leave Max and their twin daughters behind. Max is supportive of his ex, Max wants her to spend more time with the girls.
Despite not wanting another woman like his ex; there are some differences between the two. Max is still interested in Laurel and ends up learning more about her – including why she is so career driven. Laurel ends up attending a luncheon, and after a car accident that delays her trip home, Max suggests ice cream. After a “near-disaster” because of the delay, Laurel sees an old habit repeating – ignoring business for a guy.
Because she is fond of Max, Laurel wonders if she can balance the dating/work life. After all, Max is doing it as a single father to twins. With Max’s urging, the two decide to take a chance. It takes time for max and Laurel to realize what they want and how they want to go about and they have to navigate major challenges.
You will find this is a second-chance romance I was able to read in a couple hours., with half of it being in.. The pacing of the novel definitely helped the story stay interesting and it’s a clean read with no questionable language, and “affection” is limited to light kissing and hugging. Making this a book that even High Schooler could read.

Meet the Author: CATHY MCDAVID
NY Times and USA Today bestselling author CATHY MCDAVID wrote her first book at sixteen. The self-illustrated children’s story featured a young girl whose lack of responsibility nearly resulted in the demise of her pet fish. It’s quite possible the book was an autobiography, but Cathy’s not telling. She wrote her second book, and first romance, at nineteen with the help of a portable Smith Carona typewriter. One never knows how the unrequited crush on a college professor will affect their eventual career.
These days, with 57 titles and 1.6 million books in print, she still incorporates a little of her own life in each story. A lover of all things Western and former avid horsewoman, her stories include riding, ranching, and rodeo because, well, who doesn’t enjoy a good cowboy romance? Mother of grown twins and married to her own real-life sweetheart, Cathy is living her dream penning heart-stopping suspense thrillers and heart-touching family dramas for Harlequin.
