I wanted to share a new children’s book with you PT Runs Free I received a physical copy of in exchange for this review. I am excited to let you know you will find PT Runs Free inside our Easter Gift Guide 2023.
My family loves animals as I’m sure you know. Several of our dogs have been rescue animals just like PH and is one of the reasons I couldn’t wait to read PT Runs Free. Once the book arrived I set it aside because I thought it would make a wonderful addition to my niece and nephew’s Easter basket this year.
Every time I walked by the coffee table I would see the book sitting there and this morning I was up by myself. It was raining and I couldn’t go outside to walk. I picked up PT Runs Free and I feel in love with the cover of the book. I loved the Puppy on the cover and couldn’t wait to read his story.
I cuddled up on the couch with my dogs and opened the book and began to read the story. Before I finished the book I knew this was a story David and Charlie needed to read. As well as sharing with our local animal shelter because all shelters need help raising funds to take care of the animals in these shelters just like in Florida.
Charlie was heartbroken to find out a PJ had lost his leg but was amazed that he overcome his disabilities to live a full life helping others out. I even found myself tearing up as I saw how his owner treated him and caused the wreck even though the young man may never know it. Finding out he ended up in a shelter was so sad. Which reminded me to tell Charlie no, matter how aggravated he gets at our dogs its our responsibility to take care of them and give them love no, matter how busy we might get.
One day they might not be here just like my dog Sandi who was a rescue dog that passed away from old age along with Lucy. Prompting me to rescue Pheobie who was a puppy when I got here. If you do go to adopt a dog always look for dogs with disabilities or older animals because lots of times they get left behind.
I hated hearing how people would refer PT to being a broken child. Charlie and I were able to discuss amputation and how it doesn’t only happen to children but people as well. Then I was able to share my Uncle Stanley’s story with Charlie allowing him to learn more about his family he had never heard of.
Through this book Charlie is now wanting to volunteer not only with pets but older people leading to new lessons in our Homeschool Home Economics Class. Would you like to come with us when we volunteer? Or would you like to donate food and blankets or toys for the animals in our local shelter?
