I would like to share a children’ book based on a Video Game which can be used in our Homeschool Creative Writing Class. The new book is 101 Unofficial Roblox Story Starters: Get Kids Writing with Fun and Imaginative Video Game-Inspired Prompts by Sara Coleman which I received a physical copy of for this review.
In Homeschool we can teach our children anything they are interested in unlike Public Schools. Which is why you find me using Board Games a lot of times. Not only that were always watching YouTube Videos and this week we’ve added Video Games to our Lesson Plans. Not only that for Christmas I want to get Charlie a Wii which has interactive games like Tennis which we can use for PE.
Spring Break is here this week. I know my niece Lily and my nephew Jason will come over to visit. Charlie will still be in school while they are here. Since all three of them play Roblox and learning shouldn’t ever stop. I plan on copying one of the pages and having them all write a story before they are allowed to play.
I have a question for you should I give them all the same prompt or give each of them a different prompt? They can read their stories out loud and then we can judge which story we like best. Which uses the most imagination and which one was illustrated the best. Would you like to be a judge for us?
I love that there are instructions that tells us how to use the book which the kids can read and discuss before writing their story. I love having tips that tell us what to do if we get stuck when writing a story which we can use all the time in our writing class. I also love how this book shows us were to get inspiration from when writing a story.
There is different chapters from adventure to animals and pets which you can bet your bottom dollar would be Charlie’s favorite chapter. While I liked adventure and David liked comedy. In the back of the book are blank pages which can be used to continue the stories and keep our children and adults writing.
Charlie thought it was funny that one of the characters in the book is David and his prompt was “David noticed for a while that his pet Cat’s were acting strange. It was almost as if the Cat’s were working behind his back and plotting something against him. Then, one day, the cat’s secret plans came to life. Which is funny because David doesn’t care for Cats. Which if you knew David knows isn’t true, he just doesn’t want us to have one. Making this story even that much more fun for Charlie to write.
