Are you a “Don’t talk to me until I’ve had my coffee” type of person?? Listen up!
In response to growing concerns over the environmental impact of single-use coffee packaging, Bonner-based Planetary Design is proud to announce the launch of the “Sustainable Coffee Club.” This innovative program is designed to encourage coffee drinkers to adopt more sustainable practices and reduce their single-use waste for the home.
The “Sustainable Coffee Club” offers a variety of benefits to members, including a custom Sustainable Coffee Club hat and a medium Airscape Coffee Canister that can help keep their coffee fresh for longer and can be used at coffee roasters to refill on beans instead of buying packaged coffee. Members also receive 20% off Planetary Design products for life and can purchase eco-friendly coffee products at a discount. In addition, members receive a 10% discount on a coffee subscription to Planetary Design’s ‘Sustainable Roaster of the Month’ each month. Sustainable Coffee Club memberships can be purchased at https://planetarydesign.com/product/sustainable-coffee-club/.
Refilling Medium Airscape® Classic with Big Creek Roaster Coffee Beans
One of the key features of the “Sustainable Coffee Club” is its focus on supporting the Sustainable Coffee Roaster of the Month and giving customers a discount to support these roasters each month. Planetary Design is featuring Big Creek Coffee Roasters out of Hamilton, MT, as the March Sustainable Roaster of the Month. By promoting and partnering with sustainable roasters, the program is working to reduce the environmental impact of the coffee industry. The program also donates $5 of every Sustainable Coffee Club membership to The Conservation Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and preserving wild places.
The coffee industry generates millions of tons of single-use waste every year, and most coffee packaging is not recyclable. A report by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation estimated that less than 5% of coffee packaging is currently recycled globally. The report notes that most coffee packaging is made from materials that are not recyclable or are difficult to recycle. This waste contributes to significant environmental pollution and landfill usage and will only get worse, with the global coffee packaging market expected to grow 4.2% from 2022 to 2029. By joining the “Sustainable Coffee Club,” members can take simple steps to reduce their contribution to this waste while still enjoying their daily cup of coffee and contributing to a more circular, sustainable model.
