Welcome to our series sharing Unique Holidays: October 29th, 2022. Would you take a look at the Holidays being celebrated today and let me know which holiday you want to celebrate and why. As for me I’m going to celebrate Hermit Day and hibernate for a while.
Hermit Day– always observed on October 29th
If ever there was a day to crawl into your shell all by yourself, talk to no one, and become a Hermit Crab, today is the day. Hermit Day is today. Certainly, as a recluse you shun publicity. Instead, this is a quiet day to spend quietly in seclusion, all by yourself.
For some people, being a recluse is a way of life. These people spend every day by themselves, in peaceful seclusion. For whatever reason, Hermits prefer living away from the crowds and the sea of humanity. For many of us who lead an increasingly busy and stressful lifestyle, the idea of being a “Hermit for a Day” is very tempting. The thought of getting away from it all, even if for just one day, is very appealing.
If you are a Hermit, celebrate your lifestyle today. If you’re one of the many, who yearn for a break from your hectic lifestyle, be a Hermit on Hermit Day. Chill out by yourself where no one can find you. We hope that no one interrupts the calm and serenity you seek today.
How to Celebrate Hermit Day
- Spend Hermit Day in a secluded area or environment.
- May we suggest you do so with a good book reading all by yourself?
- If you are a recluse, stay in your shell and celebrate quietly with no one but yourself.
- Go into hiding for the next 48 hours.
- We won’t suggest a Hermit Day party, as this is an oxymoron.
History and Origin of Hermit Day
Our research did not find the creator or the origin of Hermit Day. We believe hermit Day was started by a Hermit. So far, the Hermit has not come out of his hiding place long enough to claim credit for creating Hermit day. The last thing he’d want is to be in the limelight.
Aside from Ecard companies and calendar websites, there is little reference to Hermit Day.
National Cat Day– always observed on October 29th
They say “every Dog has his day”. It’s only fitting that every Cat has her day, too. You’d better treat your feline like a queen today. She deserves it, because today is National Cat Day. We got the feeling that today is going to be an absolutely purr-fect day.
National Cat Day was created for several reasons. First, it is a holiday to celebrate and enjoy quality time with your feline friend. Treat her royally. Feed her special treats, give her catnip, and buy her some new toys. Don’t have a Cat? Another objective of National Cat Day is to encourage people to adopt a cat. When you do so, you’re in for a rewarding experience. There are many Animals out there who need your love and care. Another reason for National Cat Day is to bring awareness and encourage action for the better welfare of Cats. Donate or give your time to a Tat or pet rescue organization.
Ways to Celebrate National Cat Day
- Pamper your Cat in every way imaginable.
- Give your Cat some catnip.
- Purchase Cat toys to play with the Cat with.
- Get a new Cat bed.
- Adopt a Cat.
- Spend time with your Cat.

Today is Frankenstein Day, an August 30 holiday. Frankenstein is in honor of Author Mary Wollenstone Shelley who was born on August 30,1797. She wrote the book “Frankenstein “in 1818. Amazingly, Author Mary Wollenstone Shelley was just 21 when she published this Monster of a book. National Frankenstein is in honor of her birth date.
In the book, Doctor Frankenstein created a living Monster from body parts of the dead. In his laboratory, he made the Monster come to life. Frankenstein is the name given to the Monster, named after his creator. Frankenstein’s Monster then went on the rampage, terrorizing the community.
How to Participate in Frankenstein Day
- Read Mary Wollenstone Shelley’s Book Frankenstein.
- Watch the movie Frankenstein which several have been made over the decades.
Other Frankenstein Monster Holidays
There are three known Frankenstein “days”. As a result, there is more than a little confusion. In addition to today’s holiday celebrating the Author, we can enjoy two other related holidays. All three holidays are a Monster of a day.
Here’s more about the other two:
Frankenstein Friday is the last Friday in October. Originally, we traced some references back to a website on Frankenberry Cereal, which suggests a commercial origin. Recently, the creator came forward and told us about this holiday that he created which you can find out about here on More on Frankenstein Friday.
National Frankenstein Day Google posts this as October 29th. We have not been able to verify that this is a true National Holiday but latest research suggests this Holiday is really Frankenstein Friday.
History and Origin of Frankenstein Day
While much is known about the book and the Author, we found no information about who created this holiday and why. Perhaps it was Frankenstein himself.
