Good morning, Happy Easter to you and your family. Before I get up to take Charlie to Church this morning, I wanted to bring you Unique Holidays: April 17th, 2022. Would you take a look at the Holidays being celebrated today and tell me which one you most want to celebrate?
Let’s celebrate Bats today!! No, we are not going batty. There are people who think Bats deserve a little respect. There are many varieties of Bats. Including a Bat, the size of your thumb. Counter to what horror movies lead us to believe, Bats won’t bother you, as long as you don’t bother them.
Bats can actually be your friend. Bats are nocturnal flyers, emerging after dark, from Caves, and the attics of old buildings. Bats use a form of radar to seek their favorite food source which is Mosquitos and other nighttime Insects. Gardeners appreciate Bats because Bat Guano is among the best manure you can use, in your home garden.
When we think about bats, we often think of them as Halloween Bats, or as a symbol of the Halloween holiday.
History and Origin of Bat Appreciation Day:
Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this Holiday.
I am surprised that Bat Appreciation Day is not in October, near Halloween. Perhaps celebrating Bat Appreciation Day in April, for the Halloween Season, allows us to truly appreciate the good qualities of Bats.
Blah, Blah, Blah Day just might be the blah-est day of the year. The intent of this Holiday is to do all of the projects and things that people have been nagging you to do. Including quitting a habit, losing weight, and working on home improvement projects. The “Honey Do” list or job jar is a top target for today.

Easter Sunday – date varies
Future Years: April 17, 2022; April 9, 2023; March 31, 2024, April 20, 2025; April 5, 2026
The real meaning of Easter is the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. To Christians, it is the most special day of the year. Yes, the birth of Christ is quite important. But Christs resurrection offers the hope of everlasting life to everyone! The Lenten Season leading up to Easter Sunday is a time of fasting, sacrifice and prayer. It is the Christian way of replicating in a small way what Christ sacrificed for us. In his fasting and his final death on the cross.
The word “Easter” comes for the Saxon Pagan festival. Honoring the goddess “Easter” (also called Oestre). The goddess Easter’s symbol is the Rabbit.
Easter also is celebrated with the Easter Bunny, coloring eggs, Jellybeans, and Chocolate. The Easter Bunny comes on Saturday night leading up to Easter Sunday morning. The Easter Bunny brings Chocolates and candies. That’s one meaning to Easter, especially if you are a kid or a “Chocolaholic”.
There is a famous Easter game called the Easter Egg Hunt which I’ve never played. But we did play Colored Eggs as a child. Did you? Early in the morning kids go outside to find colored Easter eggs that the Easter bunny has hidden the night before. Did you know the Easter Egg Hunt was the first game ever invented? It is said that the reason this tradition started was because the Easter Bunny dropped the eggs on the way to deliver them and they hide themselves. That is how the Easter Egg Hunt was supposedly invented.
Most of us will celebrate both parts of this Spring holiday. Upon awakening Easter Sunday morning, the children will hunt for the Easter basket left by the Easter Bunny. Then the family will dress in their finest new Spring outfits and go to Church to celebrate Christ’s resurrection. From there, the holiday tradition varies. Some families have a big breakfast of Brunch feast. Other families will have a main meal with Baked Ham being the most common Meat. Brightly colored hard-boiled Eggs will also be popular. Today is not a day for high cholesterol diets. It is a day to feast as the long Lenten Season is over and Christ has arisen.
Easter Lilies are a popular flower and sign of Easter. Easter Lilies is great gifts for mom or grandma, to decorate their home. Garden Stores and Floral Shops force the blooms to peak as Easter arrives, providing a splash of color to the Spring Season. Easter Lilies is grown from bulbs. They can be transplanted into your home garden after the blooms have died off. Easter Lilies will bloom in your flower garden every Spring!
The date for Easter changes every year but it is the first Sunday after the full moon following the Spring Equinox.
Easter Sunday is immediately followed on Monday with Dyngus Day
The Polish Blessed Easter Breakfast – is a joyful tradition anyone may want to start.

Herbalism is an important profession. Herbalist Day, sometimes referred to as “Thank an Herbalist Day”, is a celebration and awareness of the importance of herbs and herbalists in our lives. According to the Herbal Academy, this Holiday is a “celebration of the many teachers, peers and herbs that have guided us through our journey as an herbalist thus far”.
Herbs unquestioningly play a very important part in our lives. There are many different herbs, providing medicinal, culinary, cosmetic, and aromatic uses. We use herbs to flavor countless foods. When you think about it, food would be pretty bland without herbs. Medicinally, herbs are used extensively, to treat a wide range of ailments. Herbs are often infused in Tea or used in baths and topical solutions. Herbs also offer an aromatic benefit. Lavender readily comes to mind. Herbs are an ingredient in cosmetics and beauty products. Ornamental herbs are commonly used in fresh or dried arrangements. Herbs can serve more than one of these uses.
Herbs are natural remedies for many ailments. Herbalists believe Herbs are better for you, than chemical medicines. Are Herbs in actuality better or healthier for you? That is often the subject of much debate. Herbalists use their extensive knowledge of all the various herbs, to put them to good use for good health.
We encourage you to do two things today: First, if you know a herbalist, thank them for all that they do. Secondly, spend time learning more about herbs. Research hos herbs can be used to make your life a better one.

International Haiku Poetry Day
Today is International Haiku Poetry Day. This is a day for poets and lovers of poetry to enjoy.
The Haiku Poem is a Japanese art form. We were all introduced to this interesting Japanese art form back in our High School days. The Haiku is a simple, non-rhyming poem. The Haiku consists of short and simple, 3-line stanzas consisting of 5-7-5 syllables. The subject of the poem can be about anything.
Here are a couple ways to enjoy International Haiku Poetry Day:
- Go to a park with your family and sit on a blanket under a shady tree and read Haiku poems.
- Try your hand at creating a Haiku poem today.
April is National Poetry Month.
History and Origin of International Haiku Poetry Day
This holiday event was created in 2007 by Sari Grandstaff. In 2012, the Haiku Foundation picked up on this holiday and began promoting it.
National Cheeseball Day is a day to stuff yourself with Cheeseballs. Now you might ask kind of Cheeseball are we talking about? There’s the light and airy, puffy Cheeseball you munch on for a snack by the dozens. Then there is the Cheeseball, decorated with Nuts, that sits on a party tray until spread on a Cracker. In celebration of this Holiday let’s celebrate and enjoy both Cheeseballs.
When it comes to the Cheeseball snack, we are certain that you can’t eat just one. Not even a handful. Cheeseballs are addicting. Place a bowl of Cheeseballs on the counter and watch them disappear. Toddlers and young kids are Cheeseball hounds. So are teenagers and adults. Everyone loves Cheeseballs.
The Cheeseballs of holiday trays is equally loved. The Cheeseball is wildly popular around the holidays and hard to find other times of year.
Celebrate this Cheesy day with both Cheeseballs. Serve Cheeseballs after dinner during your favorite Television show, or whenever its convenient.
History and Origin of “National Cheeseball Day”:
Is this a celebration derived from the snack industry, or the Dairy industry? I would think so. Wouldn’t you? However, our research did not find the creator, this Holiday.
Thank you,
