As we countdown to the holiday season, Fathom Events invites you to your local movie theater for a month of family-friendly fun featuring six must-watch films and special performances.
From adventure to Opera, there is something for kids of all ages (and parents!) from Fathom Events on the big screen this December. December’s entertainment line-up includes the Met Opera’s Encore of The Magic Flute, complete with awesome puppetry; TIMECRAFTERS The Treasure of Pirates Cove, a brand-new high-seas adventure starring Denise Richards, Eric Balfour, and Malcolm McDowell; the star-studded musical film, Buttons, A Christmas Tale, featuring Dick Van Dyke and Angela Lansbury, and narrated by Robert Redford and Kate Winslet; Bolshoi Ballet: The Nutcracker (2020 Encore), the best way to see the cherished ballet this festive season; and a duo of TCM Big Screen Classics series events, including the smash-hit musical Fiddler on the Roof, and the world’s favorite sheepherding pig, Babe: A 25th Anniversary Event.

Met Opera Encore The Magic Flute In theaters Sat., Dec. 5
This delightful performance of the Met’s abridged, English-language version of Mozart’s enchanting fairy tale returns to cinemas this holiday season.
In this first-ever Live in HD transmission, Tony Award–winner Julie Taymor conjures a spellbinding staging, replete with a kaleidoscope of color and parades of puppetry.
TIMECRAFTERS The Treasure of Pirates Cove
In theaters Sat., Dec. 12; Sun., Dec. 13; and Tue., Dec. 15 Cast: Denise Richards, Eric Balfour, Malcolm McDowell
A pirate crew led by the dashing Geoffrey Pistol launches a daring mutiny, stealing away in the night. Captain Lynch awakes to find his first mate gone along with his precious treasure map and vows to chase the mutineers to the gates of Hades.
As Pistol navigates a stolen vessel through a treacherous storm, a strange “Time Machine” mechanism below deck is activated and the ship disappears in a flash of swirling, blue energy.
The bewildered crew awakes on the shore of the modern-day seaside town Pirate’s Cove, where they are mistaken for drunken actors. A group of four kids Josh, Brigitte, Chip, and Hedge find the pirate’s treasure map and use high-tech gadgetry to decipher the clues on the ancient map while eluding their parents and some unsavory characters lurking in town.
When the town’s wacky Mayor announces a plan to ditch the town’s pirate theme in lieu of a new “Dino-World” moniker the kids really need to find the lost treasure and save their town from the Mayor’s devious plans.

TCM Big Screen Classics Presents Fiddler on the Roof

n director Norman Jewison‘s boisterous cinematic adaptation of this international Hal Prince-Jerome Robbins smash-hit stage musical, we find ourselves in the picturesque Ukrainian village of Anatevka, in which resides Tevye ([Chaim] Topol), an impoverished milkman with a sharp-tongued wife, Golde (Norma Crane), and five unmarried daughters to support.
But family troubles will soon become insignificant. The corrupt Czarist regime turns against the pious and highly moral Jewish population of Ukraine, and violent pogroms sweep across the land.
Tevye, his family, and their neighbors and friends are faced with the choice of losing their lives or losing their homeland… Musical score by John Williams. The violin music of Isaac Stern is featured on the soundtrack. Based on stories by Sholem Aleichem.

Buttons, a musical fairy tale film from creator director Tim Janis takes you on a journey to discover that sometimes believing can be the greatest adventure of all!
During a time of robber barons, mills, and rising industry, two orphan children meet two unexpected visitors (Dick Van Dyke & Angela Lansbury) who turn the tide of events and change their lives forever.
