5 Must Try Healthy Summer Snacks

The Mommies Reviews

It’s the time of the year when it’s very easy to rely on the convenience of unhealthy fast food and not so healthy snacks. If you’re having fun, why not go all the way, right?

summertime snacks! » whatever

Healthy snacks that are quick and easy and don’t break the bank are top of mind for many Moms every summer. When school’s out the need for quick and easy healthy snacks increases big time! Summer time means moms are going to be spending a lot more time with their little ones.

If you’re looking for new ideas, here are 10 that will fill kids’ bellies and provide tons of good nutrition between meals:

1. Fro-Yo Bark

This Creative Fro-Yo Fruit Bark is an Awesome Clean Eating Treat ...

To keep this healthy, spread a layer of unsweetened natural Yoghurt onto a parchment-lined baking tray. That doesn’t mean that this treat won’t be a little sweet. The slices of Strawberry, Apple and Banana or or mini Chocolate Chips will do the trick!  Freeze until firm, then crack into pieces. Eat quickly; the bark melts fast!

2. All-Fruit Popsicles

We found the best low-sugar popsicle brands, and it wasn't easy!

Who doesn’t love a Popsicle in the summer? Kids, especially, love this treat. But you don’t have to settle with store bought ones loaded with artificial flavors and Sugar, because you can make one (or maybe 10) using sliced Fruit, Berries, Coconut Water and Honey to sweeten the mixture. Put it in a Popsicle mold, then insert the stick and freeze.

3. Banana Non Dairy Ice cream

Best Ever Banana Ice Cream - Be Good Organics

Ice creams are Summer’s staples. They help keep the body cool. But unfortunately some kids battle with Lactose Intolerance. So, here’s something that’s tasty and healthy. Freeze peeled, sliced Banana chunks, then whirl in a food processor or blender until it becomes the texture of ice cream. Serve with other Frozen Fruit or some natural Jam to add a little color and flavor to the mix. This is super tasty!

4. Hummus Cups

Veggie Cups With Hummus Recipe - Studio Delicious

Summer time is adventure time. This snack is best when you and your kids are on the go. Place a few tablespoons of Hummus (or other dip) at the bottom of a small cup, then stand up raw Veggie sticks like Carrots, Cucumbers, and Peppers in the Hummus. Now, you’ve got a dish that won’t spill and can easily be eaten anywhere.

5. DIY Yogurt Popsicles

I thought I would share another Popsicle because we can’t just have enough of them. It’s good to have options in case your kids will bring friends over who are not too keen with pure Fruit Popsicle. But a Yogurt Popsicle is quite hard to resist especially one that looks almost the same as its store bought counterpart.

Fill your Popsicle mold with a 50/50 mix of your favorite all natural Yogurt and some mashed Fruit. Then freeze. As with all things frozen, they need eating quickly once they emerge from the freezer or the kids will be wearing them.

What’s your kids favorite Summer snack? Is there something you’d want to add to my list? I’d love to hear from you and let’s chat or email over some of these healthy and tasty Summer treats!
