Here we go again with the 2012- 2015 Blogging From A to Z April Challenge a-to-zchallenge.com. it took me a couple minutes to figure out what picture to share featuring the Letter G because my theme is #thingsaroundthehouse.

Sitting at my desk I started to look around my living room looking for something that started with the Letter G and at first all I could think of what my mom and I. Because our names start with the Letter G. I didn’t want to show myself and didn’t have a picture of my mom to share.
I put this post to the side and went back to work. Then low and behold I figured out what I could share. it was Back In St. Olaf Mints from the tv show Golden Girls back In St. Ola featuring Rose and the Bold Viking Flavor After Geneuckenflugen Cake.
Recipe for Genurkenflurken Cake
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cardamom 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup light brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon orange zest 1/2 cup toasted pecans
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
2 oranges, peeled, segmented and cut into small pieces
Method:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (176°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
2. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and salt.
3. In another bowl, cream together the butter and the brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, beating until the mixture is well blended.
4. Stir in the orange zest, pecans, sour cream, and orange juice.
5. Slowly fold in the dry ingredients, mixing until just incorporated.
6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Top with the orange pieces.
7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
8. Allow to cool completely before serving. Enjoy!
