This is a review for a new Young Teen book I picked up for Charlie. This new book can be used in our Homeschool History class. The new book is called 101 Cool Hilarious Histories published by Glen Singleton. I purchased this book for Charlie from Half Price Books. Which is tuning out to be my favorite bookstore.
Charlie wasn’t to keen about learning History this year so I knew I would need to make it fun while still making sure Charlie was learning the things they require a 5th grader to learn. Then the other day David and I ventured into Half Price Books and as I was walking through the aisles looking at the displays I found 101 Cool Hilarious Histories and showed it to David.
As I could hear the Lord telling me I should purchase it to use in our History class. David looked through the book and he said he thought it would be a perfect addition to our History class. I purchased this book and I am so glad I did as both Charlie and David are enjoying it and they have been sitting down together to read it.
I hear both Charlie and David sharing what they are reading with not only me but there friends and family so I know this new book is a huge hit and Charlie is learning things he needs to know. Without using a boring workbook as Charlie says. Or for me printing our worksheets for Charlie to do.
These 101 true tales from history are packed with colourful cartoons celebrating the most dastardly dynasties, colourful characters, and incredible innovations; they will have you in stitches! This book is filled with hundreds of amazing facts in 15 awesome subject areas, with over 200 rib-tickling cartoons.
Did you know that the Ancient Egyptians believed in magic, and even had their own magic wands? Or that Ancient Greek inventor Archimedes created a heat ray made of mirrors to set fire to enemy ships? Or that Genghis Khan created the world’s first postal service, with Mongolian postmen delivering mail on horseback?
From Aztecs to Vikings, from the Middle Ages to the millennium, embark on a journey back in time and around the globe to learn about the funnier, yuckier side of the people and events they certainly don’t teach you at school! A fun and entertaining educational tool, this book is a must-have for every child’s library!
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
