There are so many tips every blogger must know so before I go one I would like to let you know I have learned these from experience. While others I have watched others learn and funny enough they are the little things you would think every blogger already knows. Which is false because a lot of bloggers don’t  even realize they need this knowledge, so make friends with bloggers as there are things blogger courses can’t teach you. There are also things only experience can show you which is why I have decided to share some of the tips that I think every blogger should know from my own experience.

Make Your Social Media Buttons Very Visible On Your Blog: This should be one of the basics right! I have visited blogs that their social media buttons were complicated for me to find. I once had to complete a task where I collected and entered social media links of various bloggers and to my surprise finding those links were difficult for me on some blogs I visited. So I did what a lot of people do I left and didn’t leave a comment. So make sure your social media buttons are one of the first things people see when they visit your homepage, it makes growing your social media following easier.

Tighten Your Branding: I must confess I used to suck at Branding, I wanted to put up everything that was pretty especially on my Instagram. You can imagine how colorful and unbranded my feed was looking after the first three months. I mean my messages were valuable, but my branding wasn’t. It held my accounts back from growing to the fullest potentials. Use custom made and consistent templates for your social media and blog posts graphics, use one picture for all platforms, narrow it down to 3 colors and fonts for all your posts and with time it will all come together.

Engage With Your Followers: Engaging does so much for us bloggers, but only a few practice it. Doesn’t just stop at responding to comments on your posts take one day out in a week and check your consistent followers out. Leave them a lovely comment, like their pictures, do something to make them feel your presence this helps you grow genuine and loyal followers.

Give Your Blog A Makeover Once In A While: I mean I don’t see why not, it’s like getting a facelift. When you visit other blogs take notes of slight tweaks you could do to yours to make it look better, we can only get better through change. Giving your blog a makeover once in a while makes it look and feel better to your readers, no significant changes just tweaks.

Make Your About Page Visible: This is equally important, your about page should also be visible, for me it’s one of the things I look out for every time I visit a new blog. You want to get to know the face and personality behind the words you are reading and even if it’s a few crafted words by the blogger you know you still want to see it.

Encourage Comments On Your Blog: At the end of every post ask questions that will strike up engagement. You want to discuss with your readers and know what they think about every article they just read. Most times you could even get a thing or two from them. I know I have written blog posts with inspiration from my readers’ comments.

Photoshop Away: Feel free to Photoshop and edit the pictures you use for your posts to make them look more beautiful and professional, throw in more light, don’t like the color shade feel free to switch to fit into your blog.

Add Titles And Descriptions To Your Photos: While uploading your pictures into your blog take a minute to switch up that title and description, it helps your gallery stay organized in search engines, your photo description comes up when photos which pinned from your blog to Pinterest. Ensure you have the specifications and Alt attributes set.

Organize Your Blog Categories And Pages: Organization is critical; you don’t want everything on your blog looking disorganized, ensure you don’t have too many categories and keep it all together.

Don’t Get Burnt Out: You are a content creator, and you have an online presence the last thing you want is to get burnt out. You need to stay motivated and inspired, set time aside for work and time to relax and turn off; I have a blogger friend who doesn’t attend family or friends gathering with her phone that way she doesn’t get caught up with work. You could try that every once in a while.

I hope you find this helpful in some way; I also hope you picked up a thing or two from all these, do you have more tips to share? Comment below some blogger might need to hear it.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
